"For I know the plans I have for you,” declares the LORD, “plans to prosper you and not to harm you, plans to give you hope and a future." - Jeremiah 29:11
St. Vincent de Paul Edge's Mission is to bring teens into a relationship with Christ and his Church. Edge is built on the kerygma and the teaching style of Jesus, that is, with lots of relational ministry and FOOD! By joining Edge, you'll get to make friends, play a lot of games, eat a lot of junk food, and most importanly grow deeper in your faith with kids your age in a fun, relatable, and dynamic way.
In its best form, Edge is a "mini Lifeteen." Edge is focused on evangelization and relational ministry, that is, making disciples by first being one by example and then leading others into discipleship through affective and relatable catechesis. 3 out of 4 nights a month are focused on catechetical topics or issues that are relevant to the faith and the lives of the middle school youth in the hardest years of life, and 1 night a month is a social (dodgeball, messy games, karaoke, etc.). There are also additional socials/hangouts as well as an Edge retreat every year, and a "Welcome to Life Retreat" for the 8th graders finishing school and entering high school (and therefore hopefully entering Lifeteen, our high school youth group!).
Here is what a typical Edge night looks like:
1.) Food/hangout
2.) Gather (games, funny skit, homemade video, etc.)
3.) Proclaim (talk given either by an adult core member or high school teen core member)
4.) Break (small groups or activity)
5.) Send/Challenge (prayer experience, witness/challenge, etc.)
Middle Schoolers are very busy. Running from school to sports and then to Edge can be a lot, and they're hungry! They might not even have time to eat otherwise between after school activities and Edge. Nobody likes being hangry!
That's why we have dinner provided by our super amazing and gracious parents! It's pretty simple: sign up on the signup genius below to bring something on a particular night and then bring it that night at 6:15PM! If everybody brings something once then that will feed everybody for the whole school year at Edge! It may not seem like a big deal, but it really does help a lot in making sure we reach the middle schoolers in the best way possible, and them being engaged in what we're doing is important! Making sure they're fed definitely helps with this!

Thank you again so much to those who help with this! We all really appreciate it so much!
