Parish Finance Council
The formation and ongoing practice of the Parish Finance Council is a requirement of the Archdiocese of Galveston-Houston. This council is appointed by the Pastor for a three year, renewable term or until there is a change in pastor. The members appointed to this council must be practicing Catholics with experience in financial issues and known for their judgement. They must meet at least four times per year.
The purpose of the Finance Council is consultative. The members assist the pastor with administration of the parish goods. They recommend steps to comply with policies and procedures in the Parish-School Control Manual, assist in the preparation of the annual budget, and assist in the preparation of the annual financial report to the parishioners. They also review financial statements quarterly and make recommendations for increasing revenues to meet parish and Archdiocesan goals. They encourage and support parish and Archdiocesan stewardship programs. They annually review the Internal Control Questionnaire and identify any control deficiencies that exist.
